Getting Ready Wedding Photos

PLANNING YOUR WEDDING

Introduction to Ready Photos

Getting ready photos are an essential part of wedding photography, capturing the excitement and anticipation of the big day. These photos provide a unique opportunity to document the bride and groom’s preparations, showcasing their personalities and style. A professional wedding photographer can help create stunning ready photos, using natural light and creative poses to capture the magic of the moment. With a focus on candid moments and special details, ready photos can become treasured memories of the wedding day. The beauty of these photos lies in their ability to tell the story of the day, from the quiet moments of reflection to the joyful interactions with friends and family.

Preparation for the Big Day

Preparation is key to capturing amazing getting ready photos. The bride and groom should consider their wedding venue, choosing a location with plenty of natural light and interesting backdrops. A hair and makeup artist can help the bride look and feel her best, while the groom can prepare with his best man and groomsmen. The wedding photographer can provide guidance on photo ideas, helping the couple to relax and enjoy the experience. By taking a few photos during the preparation process, the couple can capture the excitement and anticipation of the big day. It’s all about setting the right atmosphere and ensuring that every detail is perfect for the camera.

Brides Getting Ready Wedding Photos

As a professional wedding photographer, I love capturing getting ready wedding photos the morning of the big day as the bride is getting ready. There are always plenty of special moments when the bride is getting ready and the photography always looks gorgeous. I shoot candid moments of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready with the hair and makeup artist, the wedding dress, the wedding shoes and all the finishing touches. Flower girls also play a significant role in the preparation process, adding to the sentimental moments captured during this time. We can also get some nice pics of you and your girls doing some finishing touches and putting on any accessories you have chosen for your big day. This kind of photography always looks great because I can pose you exactly how I like and you get to do some final touches. Your wedding getting ready photos on the day will really help to set the tone and mood for your photos. If you’re like me, then you probably don’t want photos taken of you with no make up or messy hair. Most of our brides tell us they prefer their getting ready photos to start once their hair and make up have been partially or fully done. It’s also about what makes you feel comfortable, especially while in front of a camera. As photographers, we want you to look back on your photos and think ‘wow, I looked great that day!’ So if this means waiting till your make up and hair is complete, then do that. Some couples even choose to skip having getting ready photos altogether and that’s ok too. But if you do book us to photograph you guys getting ready we won’t just take a few photos, we will take many photos. This is a moment we love to capture.

Bridal Party Preparation

The bridal party plays a significant role in the getting ready process, providing support and encouragement to the bride. The bridesmaids can help the bride into her wedding dress, while the groomsmen can assist the groom with his final touches. A photo of the bridal party together can make for a fun and memorable shot, capturing the camaraderie and friendship of the group. The wedding photographer can also take individual photos of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, showcasing their unique personalities and styles. These moments of laughter, excitement, and even a few happy tears are what make the getting ready photos so special.

What We’ll Photograph While You’re Still Getting Ready

While you’re in the early stages of getting ready, we’ll use any time to capture all those detail shots, emphasizing the importance of photographing key moments. This means, dress, jewelry, invitations, shoes, perfume and more. We’ll also use this time to capture and document the atmosphere and location. We want to showcase the stunning wedding venue, the wedding ceremony setup, the event planning and anything else that needs to be captured at the wedding venue. Keep in mind that the location/room can greatly affect the overall look and feel of your wedding images, highlighting their significance in preserving memories.

Capturing Special Moments

Capturing special moments is a crucial part of getting ready photos. The wedding photographer can focus on candid moments, such as the bride putting on her wedding dress or the groom adjusting his tie. The couple can also plan special moments, such as a first look or a surprise gift exchange. By capturing these moments, the couple can relive the emotions and excitement of the big day. The wedding photographer can also provide tips and advice on how to make the most of the getting ready process, helping the couple to feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. These are the moments that will be cherished forever, immortalized in beautiful photographs.

How Long Should You Allocate For Getting Ready Photos?

As a general guide, the guys normally don’t need more than 20 or so minutes. Since weddings involve multiple events within the day, timing is crucial to ensure all key moments are captured. It is important not to miss any special moments, whether it’s the fun experiences of the bridal party or significant details during preparation. Spending time with the bride can often take longer in which we would normally allow an hour for these photos.

How To Improve Your Wedding Getting Ready Photos

Keep the room tidy

While there is usually a lot going on, we know this can often be a hard task to keep. However, trust us when we say it will make your photos look so much better. You’ll thank us later. You don’t want the moment ruined by any mess.

Have a Spacious Room

On the day, it helps to have a room where there is plenty of space to move around and work as required. This can be particularly helpful on those hot summer days. There aren’t too many people we know that like to be crammed in one space with nowhere else to go. Ensuring plenty of space can also help obtain better focal lengths from a photographer perspective.

Consider Good Lighting

Photographers love natural light and can make taking those important shots easier, especially when time may be limited. It is also important when you are getting ready and want to see your hair and make up in the best light.

Put Your Dress on Last

As the bride, be the one who is last to put the dress on. If you have all your bridesmaids dressed, then they can help you as you put your dress on and these can make for some beautiful photos.

Finishing Touches

The finishing touches are an essential part of getting ready photos, providing a final opportunity to capture the couple’s style and personality. The wedding photographer can focus on details such as jewelry, accessories, and shoes, showcasing the couple’s unique taste and flair. The couple can also take a few final photos together, capturing the excitement and anticipation of the wedding ceremony. By paying attention to the finishing touches, the couple can create a beautiful and memorable collection of getting ready photos, treasured for years to come. With the help of a professional wedding photographer, the couple can relax and enjoy the experience, knowing that their special moments are being captured forever.

What About The Groom Getting Ready?

Don’t worry – there’s no way we’ll forget about the groom. We’ll be there to ensure we photograph getting ready shots of all of these memories as well. We will capture shots of his suit, shoes, and any other details, accessories and final touches like doing up his shoes and spraying some cologne. We will get some nice portrait shots of him as well and some nice photography of the groom, his best man and the groomsman. This may look like having a cheeky drink to calm the nerves along with some individual and fun photos with the groom and his best friend and groomsman. If his family and friends, or any other person helping, turns up it can turn into a big family and friends photo shoot as everyone is enjoying their time together waiting for you both to get married. This is a great moment to get family photography and it can often be an emotional moment on the wedding day as well. Beautiful pictures of these moments are integral to preserving the memories of your special day.
