Our approach is to blend into the background during the wedding ceremony and party, photographing in the candid style of a friend or family member rather than a professional photographer.

During our consultations before your wedding day (either in person or online) we’ll get to know you so that you feel comfortable and relaxed with us, so we can blend in with your guests and capture those moments of family tradition and fun that can only happen when people aren’t aware of the camera.

We’re able to do this thanks to our long experience and technical skill. Our documentary wedding photographers will become familiar in advance with the all the details and timeline of your wedding day so we know what’s going to happen and when, and then position ourselves before, during and after the ceremony so that the camera is almost unnoticed by you and your guests.

However, while the focus is on candid photography, we will still take more formal family portraits and bridal party shots from a list that we create together before the wedding. We aim to take these photos with minimal direction and intervention from our photographers so that more of the day can be about documentary style shots.

How We Capture Your Wedding Day Story

We focus on capturing every part of your wedding day, from behind the scenes shots of the bride in her dress in the morning, to the walk down the aisle, to friends celebrating at the reception party, to the first dance of the bride and groom, the cutting of the cake and much more. This means that every moment that matters throughout the whole day is documented with authentic candid photographs that record all the love, joy and emotions you and your family experienced.

During the ceremony, our wedding photographers will document the event from multiple angles so that we can shoot both the bride’s entrance and the groom’s reaction without interrupting the view you or your guests. This also means we can photograph your families’ reactions as you take your vows and exchange rings.

Those first moments after the ceremony also provide incredible opportunities for natural photography as guests mingle and congratulate the bride and groom. This is a relaxed time that often produces some of the day’s most beautiful shots as friends and family share their joy.

During the reception, we capture you and your guests’ spontaneous reactions to the speeches, friends and families relaxing at dinner, and the wedding party on the dance floor, as well as the more intimate moments shared by the newly-married couple.

Planning Your Documentary Wedding Photography Experience

At our initial consultation ahead of your wedding day, we’ll talk about your vision for the photography, the timeline for the day, and the essential family portraits you want us to capture.

When possible, we’ll undertake a venue visit ahead of your wedding day to get a clear understanding of the lighting conditions and find the optimum positions for capturing key moments. Every venue presents its own challenges, and so an advance visit helps us to capture amazing images, regardless of the light or space.

Engagement photography packages

At Blush & Pose Photography, we also offer engagement photography packages. These not only enable you to capture this important part of the bride and groom’s journey together, but also helps you to feel more comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera ahead of your wedding day.

Documentary Wedding Photography Packages

Blush & Pose Photography full-day documentary wedding photography packages start at $3,200 for Adelaide metropolitan locations. These packages provide comprehensive coverage of your wedding day, and typically include 8-10 hours of photography.

Travel fees apply for regional South Australia venues more than 50km from Adelaide CBD, as destination weddings require additional time and logistics.

As part of your documentary wedding photography package, you’ll receive a high-resolution digital gallery of your wedding photos within 4-6 weeks, with printing rights included and each image professionally edited.

Optional add-ons include engagement sessions, additional photographer coverage for larger weddings, and premium printing packages.
