Burbrook Forest is only about a 40-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD, and is unlike any other wedding venue in South Australia.

It is a small pine forest that has been laid out in such a way that the towering rows of trees create natural avenues and produce stunning lighting effects that change throughout the day and at different times of the year. At the heart of Burbrook Forest is an iconic gum tree that has become so beloved that it is simply referred to as ‘The Tree’.

The contrast between the twisted centrepiece gum tree and the ramrod straight pines is a photographer’s dream, as it creates stunning vistas as well as ideal framing for more intimate shots of the bride and groom. The natural beauty of the venue means that less styling is required than many other outdoor or garden wedding locations, while the diffused sunlight creates an array of effects to suit a range of photo styles.

Naturally the ceremony under ‘The Tree’ will be the centrepiece of a wedding photo shoot at Burbrook Forest; however, there are many more locations in the forest and surrounding areas that provide stunning settings.

The long, majestic avenues of pine tress are ideal for both close-up portraits and for framing wider shots of the bride and groom. There are also clearings that are ideal for both formal and candid group shots.

Burbrook Forest is also perfectly situated for pre- and post-ceremony photos in a variety of some of the most photogenic locations in South Australia, such as the wineries of McLaren Vale, the hills of Willunga, and the unspoiled beauty of Kuitpo Forest Reserve and Kyeema Conservation Park.

​Burbrook Forest Location & Setting

Burbrook Forest is a privately owned pine forest on the edge of the Kuitpo Forest Reserve. It manages to be both secluded and accessible at the same time, as you can drive in and park close to the ceremony location, while the mix of clearings and dense, tree-lined paths means there are plenty of options to take stylish portraits of the bride and groom alongside family, group and wedding party photos.

Although it is a popular location for Adelaide weddings, the owners are committed to Burbrook Forest being a sustainable venue and minimising the impact that weddings and other events have on its future. This means that there are some rules that anyone considering it as a wedding venue need to be aware of.

For instance, confetti, rose petals and streamers are not permitted at the ceremony, and receptions cannot be held there. You are required to park nearby and walk to the ceremony, although wedding cars and transport for disabled people are permitted to drive up to where the ceremony will be held.

When planning your wedding, you also need to know that there is no access to power, so your celebrant needs to take this into account if amplification is required.
